I'm back from the orthopedist's office. Short version: She didn't even mention surgery. Yay!

Longer: They took x-rays before I saw the Physician's Assistant. Very efficiently. Just boom, boom, boom, x-rays done. The PA wants me to see a Physical Therapist and had me fitted for a knee brace that will help put the knee back into the socket. She said I could get a shot for the pain but it doesn't hurt that much. After I left the office, out in the parking lot, I thought I'd left my old brace (a pull-on one from the grocery store) behind so I went back for it. The x-ray tech said, "Look down" and I realized I'd just pulled the old brace down and it was around my ankle! Oops.

She also said this will never be cured but will come and go for the rest of my life. ;-(

And that I should rest it as much as I'm able. As sitting up stresses my knee, that means I'll be putting a hold on my job search until it's noticeably better.
