I use my cell phone as an alarm clock. It's set for godawful early and doesn't have an option for me to pick days so it's set all the time. After yesterday's awfulness, I forgot to turn it off and left it in the living room. It not only woke my but also my roommate Kat. She glared and said "That was rude." before lumbering back to bed.
I looked on Merriam-Webster and their definition does not support this, bu I thought that rude meant something offensive that was done on purpose. If it wasn't deliberate, does that still count as rude?
Note: this comes out of feeling hurt by her comment. About 45 minutes after the wake-up call, I was lying in bed and heard Emma, Kat's dog, moving about. I got out of bed to walk Emma so that Kat, who has chronic pain, wouldn't have to. The rude comment came after we were back in the house. It sort of felt like a slap in the face since I'd just gotten back from walking her dog.
