There's an old Bill Cosby skit where he's talking about listening to a horror show on the radio as a kid. He's sent to bed and recites the Lord's prayer up until "and if I die before I wake ... Oh no! I'm not going to sleep tonight!"

That's how I feel. I've been reading a horror novel, The Strain, because I read a crossover between BtVS and The Strain and got curious. I generally don't pick up much less finish many popular thrillers but this was good. And scary. Very, very scary.

There is a tv show based on this book. There is no way I am ever watching it.

I see so different reviews on 'Strain', from "silly parody" to "clever social horror".
Probably I should read it myself after all.

Were the reviews of the tv series or the book? My cousin says the tv series is more gore than scare. I found the book to be very creepy. I didn't want to get out of bed to run to the bathroom last night because I was worried something would attack me in the hallway. Because apparently I think vampires don't know about doors. ;-)

Of the book. TV series got quite unanimous 'meh' in the comms and forums I read.

I'm actually a wimp in terms of horror but it's usually movies that scare me more than books.
