Lie to Me
The Dark Age
- This is my least favorite episode. If you're wondering, The Zeppo is my most favorite episode.
- So girls go to this frat house and don't make it home the next day. This has gone on once a year for a good fifty years generations. Nobody has noticed?
- Poor Giles, learning to not spar with Buffy when she's pissed off.
- Buffy: No. When you kiss me I wanna die. Oh no you didn't. Is that supposed to be romantic? Because, ugh. This kind of line is exactly why I don't watch (or read) that Twilight crap.
- And this is the part I hate: Xander in the frathouse. It reminds me of the parts of I Love Lucy and The Flintstones that I didn't like. Someone doing something stupid and being embarrassed in front of everyone, except Xander does something, well okay, stupid, but also brave.
- Willow: Good idea. Call Angel. Angel has a phone? Giles knows the number?
- Okay and the really creepy ritual is also part of why I don't like this episode.
- Issue 15 of Cerebus features a giant snake, and, if I remember correctly, the moment of snake-killing is drawn as a moment of orgasm. Dave Sim hopes to one day see it listed in a comic reference as the “giant penis issue.”
- Cordelia: You did it! You saved us! (grabs Angel in a tight hug)
- Why, why, why does Buffy like Angel? I so don't get it.
Halloween
- Ethan! It's the arrival of Ethan! *squee!!!!*
- So Buffy's fighting in the pumpkin patch and one of the jack-o-lanterns has a lit candle in it. Since nobody's coming to check out the noise from the fight, does that mean that the jack-o-lanterns were left, lit, when everyone went home for the day?
- Wow, at the Bronze, check out Cordelia's super power. She can get Angel to laugh.
- I love Snyder's juvenile delinquent progression: tossing eggs, keying cars, bobbing for apples.
- Willow grabs a Watcher volume to find out info on Dru. Wow, those volumes are awfully thin! I'm assuming she's grabbed all (one) of them because she certainly didn't have time to peruse and pick the right one.
- There's this whole Cordelia is seriously kick-ass theme. This is the first one I noticed, but more to come: Cordelia: ... when it comes to dating, I'm the Slayer.
- One year for Halloween I went as menstruation. I shudder to think what I might have turned into. Of course, I came up with the costume after reading The Wise Wound so I did have all of these women power and go go Goddessy images in my head. So maybe it would have been okay.
- Yay! Oz! Oz: Who is that girl?
Lie to Me
- Okay, I don't recall what this episode is about. Oooh, Buffy finds out about Drusilla. Oooh, and we meet Ford.
- I loved this song back in the day, and yes, I did know what it was about.
- Xander: You're not wrong. Okay, the writers were having too much fun playing around with who has knowledge of what.
- Why does that guy think Diego is a cool name? Actually, I knew a guy named Diego in college. We used to play with his name and call him things like D'Eggroll.
- Drusilla's bird. Is that an ex-parrot?
- Chantarelle, as Anne, is my favorite character on AtS.
The Dark Age
- More Ethan! Yay!
- What? Philip couldn't call ahead so Rupert knew to be on the lookout for him?
- Ripper Opening Credits: Gosh, Deidre's changed.
- Buffy: Are you kidding? His diapers were tweed. The Sands of Time series has a reference to Giles' tweed diapers.
- Later it gets more difficult to get blood from the hospitals.
- Head canon for how Ripper and Ethan met and got into trouble raising demons: Indri's In the Morning of the Magicians. Absolutely brilliant.
- So Ethan has no trouble getting into the stacks, and Angel has no trouble getting into the stacks, but Philip, he can't get into the stacks?
- Another example of Cordy's inner Slayerness; Xander tackles Ethan and fails to stop him. Cordy kicks Ethan and sends him falling to the ground.
- Giles: Bay City Rollers. Now, that's music. I give you Restfield's Saturday Night:The more I watch it, the more I adore it.

Actually, moments like that where the ones that made me feel ok about S1-2 bangel. Buffy is so obviously basing her speech/actions on cheesy romantic cliches from movies and books. Many real life 15 year old girls do that.
Strangely, it makes me feel batter about Buffy - she acts that way not because she is stupid or shallow, but just because it's the "proper way" to behave when you are in love.
Oh, and thanks for reccing my vid =)
